Building Brighton – History days

This term our topic is Building Brighton. Today we learned about different famous Brightonians and the places they built in Brighton. Our teachers had boxes with clues in them.
We first learned about Wells Coates who built Embassy Court. We learned about different styles of houses.
Next we learned about John Nash. He redesigned the pavilion. We designed a room for the pavilion ourselves. We drew a map of it.
In the afternoon we learned about Magnus Volks who built the world’s first electric railway here in Brighton! We then had a go at building electric circuits ourselves.
Last of all we heard about Frank Bridge who was a composer who grew up in Brighton. Rachel played some of his work on her cello for us.
