Seeds and really looking

Today we started by making a list of all the vegetables, seeds and fruits we have growing in the school garden. Rachel asked us why the plants grow all these things. We thought it was to keep us healthy. We learned that plants do it for themselves, to make sure new life can start again. They make the fruit and vegetables tasty so humans and other animals will help the seeds spread around.

We went outside to sketch a fruit or vegetable with our learning partners. They had to give us feedback to help us get better. Do you think we were successful?

We looked at the inside of some fruit and seeds with a microscope. Here are some more pictures of these. The green bit is from inside a conker. The root and first leaves are ready and waiting for the Spring warmth and rain so it can start a new tree.
